How is the NFL MVP chosen?
A panel of 50 media members votes for the Associated Press award. Each voter ranks five players. A first-place vote is worth the most points, and the player with the highest total wins.
Votes are cast after the regular season ends and before the playoffs begin. Playoff games do not count. That is why the result is known weeks before it is announced.
MVP and Super Bowl MVP are different awards.
The MVP covers the whole regular season. The Super Bowl MVP is a separate award for the best player in the Super Bowl itself. It is announced on the field right after the game.
