The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is Bangladesh’s franchise Twenty20 competition, run by the Bangladesh Cricket Board and first played in 2012. Franchises are based in the country’s major divisions and cities, and the line-up of teams has changed several times over the years as ownership groups have come and gone.
How the tournament works
Teams play a double round-robin league stage followed by playoffs and a Final. Matches are staged mainly at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, with additional games in Sylhet and Chattogram. The BPL regularly features leading overseas T20 players from Pakistan, the West Indies, Afghanistan and elsewhere alongside Bangladesh’s internationals.
